Lucky Girl: A bandalero for Rachael

I am a lucky girl for many reasons, but today I'm lucky because my Mom surprised me with a wonderful handmade gift!

It's a bandalero! Well, not not really. In fact I think it's actually supposed to be a cowl or something, but I love the way it can kind of drape over my shoulders like a minky shawl and keep me warm even without wearing a coat.

In case you're interested the yarn is Sirdar: Indie Yarn out of the UK, but she picked it up at a knitting store outside of Portland, Oregon. Here's a copy of the leaflet from their internet site. My bandalero is the top left one.

Also, if you notice Mom's hat, she made that too (for me, but it matched her outfit so well I told her she had to wear it). That's made with yarn from Canvas Works in downtown Olympia. The pattern for the hat actually comes with the yarn!
